Divide your total headcount by 4 and round up. That single rule covers almost every group that messages us.
Round numbers rarely match real travel groups, so here's how it plays out in practice:
For groups above 20, the same math still applies, but message us directly rather than relying on a table. Larger convoys need more lead time to confirm across our fleet, and a real answer for your date beats a guess.
Yes. Send one message with your total group size, you don't need to work out the vehicle count yourself, and you don't need to submit separate bookings per tuk-tuk.
This is where a lot of first-time group organizers hesitate: do you book "8 people," or do you book "2 tuk-tuks"? With us, it's the former. Tell us how many people are actually travelling, and we translate that into the number of vehicles, matched dates, and matched start times on our end. Our own online booking form reflects this too, its passenger field tops out at "5 or more (2 tuk tuks)," which is fine for a small party but not built for double-digit groups. Past a handful of people, WhatsApp or email gets you a faster, more precise answer than the form.
Treat it as one linked group booking, not several unrelated reservations. If two people from the same party each message us separately about "our group of 10," we have no way of knowing you're meant to travel together unless you say so. Mention the full headcount and ask for everyone to be scheduled together in a single message.
Yes, when you ask in advance. Extra tuk-tuks booked for the same group are scheduled to leave at the same time and follow the same route, so nobody gets split off from the rest of the party.
Because every vehicle in your group is booked together rather than assigned independently, all your tuk-tuks pull away from Plaza de Isabel II, or your pickup point, within the same window, not staggered across the day.
Multiple tuk-tuks stay together only when every vehicle books the same tour. If half your group books Classics (60 minutes) and the other half books Full Experience (4 hours), you'll end up on two different itineraries at two different times. Pick one tour for the whole group.
Every booking confirmation includes the driver-guide's contact details for that vehicle. For a multi-tuk-tuk group, that means each part of your convoy has a direct line to the others, useful if anyone wants to check in, adjust a photo stop, or regroup along the way.
Message your total headcount, date, time and tour choice, we confirm the vehicle count and send back one combined confirmation.
The fastest route for a group booking is one WhatsApp message. Something like this covers everything we need to check availability straight away:
If you'd rather not use WhatsApp, email works just as well.
A complete first message gets a faster, more accurate reply. Include:
Multiply the number of vehicles by the tour price. There's no per-person surcharge, and, to be upfront, no automatic multi-vehicle discount either.
| Group size | Vehicles | 60-min Classics (€89 each) | 2-hour Essentials (€149 each) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 people | 1 | €89 total | €149 total |
| 8 people | 2 | €178 total | €298 total |
| 12 people | 3 | €267 total | €447 total |
| 16 people | 4 | €356 total | €596 total |
Because each vehicle costs the same flat price regardless of how many of its 4 seats are filled, the per-person cost doesn't rise as your group grows. As long as every tuk-tuk carries a full 4 people, a group of 16 pays exactly the same per person as a group of 4 on the same tour, splitting a full vehicle four ways is where a tuk-tuk tour offers its best value, at any group size. See every duration and price in our Madrid tuk tuk price guide.
Not automatically. Each tuk-tuk in your booking is charged at the standard rate shown on our pricing page for its duration, so your total is simply vehicles × tour price. If you're organizing something larger, a company outing, a recurring booking, an unusually big party, mention it when you message us. It's worth asking directly rather than assuming a rate either way.
Children generally count as one of the 4 passengers per tuk-tuk, so a family of 5 needs 2 vehicles for the same reason any group of 5 does. Mention children's ages in your booking message, whether an infant or toddler on a lap counts toward that limit, and whether a car seat can be fitted, is confirmed per booking rather than fixed for every age.
For a group made up of several families travelling together, the math doesn't change. Add up every passenger, regardless of age, and divide by 4 as usual.
None of our tuk-tuks have a boot, so pack light, and this applies to every vehicle in a multi-tuk-tuk booking, not just one.
A small daypack or camera bag per person is fine. Full suitcases won't fit in any vehicle in your convoy, so if your group is coming straight from a hotel checkout, ask about timing your tour before or after you've dropped bags off.
Space is tight in every tuk Tour Madrid, so plan to carry infants rather than bring a folded stroller.
Boarding height and seat access vary by vehicle, and the open design isn't recommended for serious back or neck conditions, or late pregnancy. For a group booking, mention any mobility needs directly when you book, a "yes" for one tuk-tuk doesn't automatically apply to every vehicle in the convoy, so we confirm this per vehicle.
For a large group, it helps to have one person collect everyone's luggage and accessibility notes and send them in the single group booking message, rather than several people messaging separately with partial information.
Groups meet at the same point as every other booking: Plaza de Isabel II, s/n, 28013 Madrid, right by Ópera metro station and a short walk from Plaza Mayor and Gran Vía, unless your hotel falls inside our free pickup zone.
Free hotel pickup covers most addresses inside Madrid's M-30 ring, including Gran Vía, Sol, Ópera, Plaza Mayor, Retiro, Salamanca, Chamberí, Malasaña, Chueca, and La Latina, hotels, Airbnbs, and hostels alike. Outside that zone, including around Atocha station, pickup is often still possible with a small extra charge that we always confirm before you book, never as a surprise on the day. Full detail on eligible addresses is on our free pickup tuk tuk tour page.
For a group spread across two or three hotels, decide upfront whether everyone meets at Plaza de Isabel II together or whether pickup makes more sense. One shared meeting point is usually simplest for larger groups, since it keeps every vehicle's departure aligned rather than staggering pickups across the city. Return drop-off isn't automatic either, most tours end at a central point like Gran Vía or Plaza Mayor, but we can arrange a return drop-off for your group for a small extra charge if you'd rather not walk back.
A few days ahead is safest for weekends or the 2-hour Essentials tour, our most-booked option, while smaller time windows sometimes work with same-day or next-day notice.
Coordinating 2, 3, or 4 tuk-tuks for one slot uses more of the day's available fleet than a single-vehicle booking, so popular weekend start times can fill up first for larger requests. Local events and public holidays add to this, so if your dates are flexible, our Madrid guide has a season-by-season look at when the city gets busiest. If your first-choice time is already taken, message us anyway, we'll usually offer the closest available slot the same day, or a nearby date. Giving us a window rather than one fixed minute makes it easier to line up every vehicle in your group for the same start. For more on how this works day to day, see our Madrid tuk tuk availability page.
The 60-minute Classics and 2-hour Essentials tours are usually the easiest lengths to coordinate across multiple tuk-tuks, long enough to be worthwhile, short enough that a group of 8, 12, or 16 stays comfortable and on schedule across several vehicles.
Madrid's weather shifts from hot summers to cool winters, which matters more on longer, open-air group tours, our Madrid guide covers what to expect by season.
Whichever length you choose, keep every vehicle on the same tour, that's what keeps a multi-tuk-tuk group on one route instead of splitting onto different itineraries. Compare the full route breakdown for all six tuk-tuk tours before deciding, including exactly which landmarks each duration adds.
Booking works the same way whatever kind of group you are, friends, a birthday party, or a company outing. The only variable is your total headcount, which sets the number of vehicles.
Book the standard private tuk tuk tour rather than a lower-cost shared option, which mixes you with other travelers by design, the opposite of what most groups booking multiple vehicles actually want.
Add the occasion to the special-request field when you book. It won't change the route, but it helps us know what's going on.
The process is identical, total headcount, one message, vehicles matched to group size. For a recurring booking or an unusually large team event, contact us directly so we can confirm fleet availability across your dates in advance.
Each tour follows a fixed route for its duration, so you can't fully custom-build an itinerary, but you can flag a landmark or occasion in your special-request field.
Since every longer tour already includes everything from the shorter ones plus more, the simplest way to guarantee a specific landmark is on your route is to pick a tour long enough to include it, rather than requesting a detour on a shorter one. The Royal Palace, for instance, is on the route from the 30-minute Flashbacks tour onward; Retiro Park only appears from the 2-hour Essentials tour upward. Check the full tour comparison to see exactly which duration includes what your group wants to see.
Your group arrives together, meets one driver-guide per tuk-tuk, and every vehicle departs at the same time on the same route.
If your group is split across a few hotels for pickup, build in a small buffer. Driver-guides collect from each address before the vehicles converge, so a spread-out group takes a little longer to assemble than one meeting at a single point.
Cancel free of charge up to about 24 hours before your start time (the exact window is confirmed when you book); rescheduling usually needs just a couple of hours' notice, subject to availability.
If your group's size changes after booking, a few more people join, or a few drop out, message us as early as possible. The number of vehicles may need adjusting, and earlier notice makes it far easier to add or release a tuk-tuk. If we ever have to cancel on our end, for severe weather or another safety reason, you're offered a full refund or a new date. For a booking spanning several vehicles, send any change as one update covering the whole group rather than separate messages per tuk-tuk, so nothing gets missed.
Before you message us, have these ready:
Up to 4 passengers. A group of 5 or more needs a second vehicle.
Yes. Send your total group size in one message, and we confirm how many vehicles that needs.
2 tuk-tuks.
3 tuk-tuks.
4 tuk-tuks.
Yes, when requested in advance, we schedule multiple vehicles for the same time so your group leaves together.
Yes, as long as every vehicle in the group books the same tour.
Per tuk-tuk. A group of 8 on the 2-hour Essentials tour pays 2 × €149 = €298 total, not €149 per person.
Not automatically, each tuk-tuk is charged at the standard rate for its duration.
Yes. Message us on WhatsApp with your group size, date, time, and tour choice.
A few days ahead for weekends or our 2-hour Essentials tour; smaller windows sometimes work same-day.
Generally yes, confirm ages when you book, since infant and toddler policy is checked per booking.
No boot space in any vehicle, so pack light. Strollers typically don't fit.
Message us as soon as possible so we can adjust the number of vehicles.
